Former England captain Eoin Morgan has backed Sunrisers Hyderabad’s decision to break the bank for Australia skipper Pat Cummins at the IPL auction on Tuesday in Dubai.
Talking on Jio Cinema, the 2019 World Cup-winning skipper said that there are not many players like Pat Cummins at the moment.
Morgan also said that Cummins’ relationship with SRH coach Daniel Vettori also worked for the 30-year-old at the auction.
“Very few captains in international cricket who can compare with him. WTC winner, Ashes away from home and the ODI World Cup. He already has a good relationship with the coach Daniel Vettori”, Morgan said on Jio Cinema.
Notably, SRH outbid CSK, MI and RCB to swoop the World Cup winner for record Rs 20.5 crore.
The fast bowler was previously part of Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR signed him for a then-record sum of Rs 15.5 crore in the IPL 2020 auction. But the pacer was released and bought back by the franchise in IPL 2022 auction for Rs 7.25 crore.
However, the 30-year-old was released by KKR before 2023 auction after former announced his decision to skip the season due to hectic international schedule.
