Mumbai Indians have at last ended their pursuit to find the new Lasith Malinga. In the IPL 2024 Auction, MI roped in new slinger, Nuwan Thushara for a price of 4.8 crore. Tipped as the new Lasith Malinga, whether the slinger can bring the X-Factor that Mumbai demands remains to be seen.
The Mumbai outfits have missing the services of their legendary bowler Lasith Malinga for the last couple of years. Amping up their pace attack, MI spilled the cash to rope in Nuwan Thushara for a price of 4.8 crore.
Mumbai have been very unfortunate regarding their pace department. 2 seasons back they bought in injured Jofra Archer for a price of 8 crore but ultimately got no result from the same. Archer remained injured and featured in just a couple of matches last season.
But this time MI came in prepared, they bought Dilshan Madushanka and Gerald Coetzee to bolster their pace attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah. Now the addition of Nuwan Thushara will bring in an added dynamic to the 5-time champions.
Known for his slingy bowling action, Thushara has been impressive in T20s. He has gone on to scalp 107 wickets in 79 T20 matches. Under new captaincy of Hardik Pandya, MI will be raring to go at their oppositions.
