Starc is no stranger to IPL, having played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders previously. The fast bowler has played 27 matches in IPL till now, taking 34 wickets. It is his economy rate of just over seven that attracted interest towards him.
Starc has been an important cog in Australia’s set up too, playing 58 T20I matches for the Aussies. The left arm quick has taken 73 wickets in the T20Is with a very healthy economy rate. He averages just over 22, which is a decent number in T20I cricket.
Starc was first signed by RCB in 2014 for a price of INR 5 crore and played two seasons with the club. After 2015, the left-handed pacer did not feature in the tournament due to various reasons such as injury, international commitments and family commitments.
He was bought by Kolkata Knights for INR 9.40 crore in IPL 2018 but missed the entire season due to injury. In 2019, he was one of the many Aussies who decided not to play in the IPL ahead of ODI World Cup. He has not played in the T20 league since 2020.
