IPL 2024 Auction: Is Kumar Sangakkara happy with RR picks?

Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Kumar Sangakkara disclosed first choices in the IPL 2024 Auction.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought only five players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction, but Head coach Kumar Sangakkara is satisfied with the picks as he thinks that they ticked all the boxes for the ‘perfect’ team.

RR had a small purse of Rs 14.5 crore but they managed to fetch players they needed in their team. The team has now three slot to fill with 20 Lakhs remaining in their purse.

Kumar Sangakkara said that Powell and Brook were the ideal players in their team setting.

“Well, I think everyone will want to get bargains, but in small auctions that is not possible. Very happy with the way the auction went. We had clear plans and knew the players we needed. Rovman Powell was a necessity and we did stretch for him, so we are pleased with the day. So, was the case with Shubham Dubey,” he added.

“We would love a lot more money. Powell was the highest-ranked player we had for the spots available. Harry Brook was next. Rovman had full availability and that was the thing we considered,” Sangakkara further said.

RR players bought at IPL 2024 auction: Rovman Powell (Rs. 7.4 crore), Shubham Dubey (Rs. 5.80 crore), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Rs. 40 lakh), Abid Mushtaq (Rs. 20 lakh), Nandre Burger (Rs. 50 lakh).

RR full squad: Sanju Samson (c), Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Donovan Ferreira, Kunal Rathore, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Sen, Navdeep Saini, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Sharma, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa, Avesh Khan, Rovman Powell, Shubham Dubey, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Abid Mushtaq, Nandre Burger.
