IPL 2024 Auction: Surprised & bewildered Dodda Ganesh questions RCB spilling cash for Alzarri Joseph

Former India Cricketer Dodda Ganesh was left baffled after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spilled huge cash, 11.5 crore for Alzarri Joseph. He suggested that RCB could have easily retained Indian pacer Harshal Patel, who would have been a big player for the Bengaluru outfits.

Insidesport

Royal Challengers Bangalore shocked the cricketing world when they released Harshal Patel on IPL 2024 Retention Day. Cut to the IPL 2024 Auction, they didn’t bat an eye when their ex bowler went up in the auction.

Instead, RCB spilled a huge cash to by West Indies bowler Alzarri Joseph for a price of 11.5 crore. Former India cricketer, Dodda Ganesh was left surprised by this weird strategy.

He simply questioned, why would RCB sell an Indian bowler and then go on to buy an overseas player for such a huge price.

Harshal Patel attracts big bucks in IPL 2024 Auction

Harshal Patel registered himself in the auction after being released by RCB. He was one of the most sought Indian pacers heading into the IPL 2024 Auction. Backed by a great domestic season – Vijay Hazare winner and joint highest wicket-taker with 19 scalps, he joined Punjab Kings for a price of 11.75 crore.

On the other hand, Alzzarri Joseph was picked by RCB after some intense bidding for a price of 11.5 crores. With Harshal Patel costing just 25 lakhs more, Dodda Ganesh questioned the weird call by RCB to let their ex bowler slip out of their hands.
