Sameer Rizvi stole the headlines of IPL 2024 Auction after was bought by CSK for a staggering price of 8.4 crores. After an intense bidding war between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. the player joins the Yellow Army. As a result Right handed Suresh Raina joins Chennai Super Kings.
Delhi Capitals entered the fray late in to the bidding to as they continued to wage war with MS Dhoni’s Chennai outfits. But CSK looked determined to buy the player which they did at last.
It was no surprise that CSK will go for for the destructive batter who can also roll over his arms for some decent leg spin. Touted as one of the most desired uncapped players ahead of the auctions, teams were keen to go for the youngster.
The 20-year old how joins the Yellow Army under the tutelage of MS Dhoni and will be hoping to learn a great deal from the former India Cricket Team skipper.
“One of the IPL scouts actually told me that he was the right handed Suresh Raina. The areas that he hits against spin are similar and many teams might go after him,” Abhinav Mukund said during the IPL Mock Auction Room.
“Sameer Rizvi has a different intent in his batting. He would get a lot of confidence if he gets to play for an UP team. He is a Badoni-type player but plays with a straighter bat,” Raina said after the IPL Mock Auction.
