While a lot of focus went into how Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma performed in the GT vs MI IPL 2024 match on Sunday, the attention was lost on Ishan Kishan. One of Mumbai’s key members, Ishan, due to his performance, or the lack of it, went unnoticed. With Mumbai chasing 169, he got out for a duck, raising a lot of doubts.
The only reason for that is, what’s been happening with him for the last couple of months. First, he opted out of the IND vs SA series, then went missing from Ranji Trophy matches despite the orders of India coach and BCCI secretary, and then was removed from the central contracts list.
All that suggested that something wasn’t well between him and the BCCI. But right after the match, Jay Shah was seen having a long chat with Kishan, the details of which are of course not known. But it looked like, Ishan at least tried to keep his point. Could that, by any chance mean that he’d be included back in the central contracts list? No one knows, but perhaps solid performances from here on will certainly help the southpaw.
