IPL 2023: Sanju Samson – Sanju Samson led by example off the field after he reminded Rajasthan Royals (RR) players about playing as a team, & not playing as individuals. There were fingers pointed at some of the RR players after they lost a close encounter against RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. With RR comfortably placed at the halfway mark to overhaul the run chase of 190, RCB scripted a miraculous turnaround by chipping away with wickets and bowling some tight overs. Experts and critics felt Yashasvi Jaiswal played way too slow when he was nearing 50, but Samson’s support for the youngster and team proved he is a true leader. Sanju Samson powerful speech lifts spirits of his teammates
With RR losing two close games to RCB and LSG while chasing, skipper Samson remained calm and composed and told a couple of losses and wins does not change the way were playing cricket. “The style of our team and our franchise is to stay humble. When we are going high and when we are going low, we believe in ourselves, as simple as that. We believe in each one of us, believe in yourself.
There is no pointing fingers, that’s the rule we need to follow. In this team, I believe that no one has played for their spots. We go each and every time we do it for our team. So I would like to remind you that don’t play four ourselves play for the team.”

RCB vs RR: Where did RR exactly lose the plot in the run-chase
It was from overs 11 to 15 that RR batters failed to score a single boundary. RCB bowlers bowled some tight overs, and that led to the wickets of Padikkal and Jaiswal – two set batters of RR. The likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Samson, and Ashwin failed to finish off the game as RCB bowlers Harshal Patel and Siraj held their nerves. While Dhruv Jurel played a blinder at the end to take RR closer, it was not to be RCB won the game by seven runs.
