IPL 2023: DC vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad spinner Mayank Markande had a good outing on the field against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. In the 12th over of the innings, Aiden Markram brought back Markande into the attack to restrict Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt who were taking the other bowlers to the cleaners.
The spinner didn’t disappoint his captain as on the 2nd delivery of the over, Markande got the big wicket of Phil Salt with a stunning reflex catch. Mayank bowled a bit short of a length delivery on off-stump, Salt tried to play the shot past the bowler but Markande took a stunning low reflex catch to end the threatening partnership.

Salt’s departure turned out to be a game-changing moment as, from 112/2, DC was soon reduced to 140/5 and eventually fell short by 9 runs.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, opener Abhishek Sharma provided a brilliant platform for the middle order with his brisk 67 runs knock. Heinrich Klaasen was the other big contributor with the bat for Orange Army as he played an unbeaten innings of 53 runs in 27 balls, which helped Sunrisers Hyderabad reach a competitive total of 197 for 6.
DC’s Mitchell Marsh was the most successful bowler with figures of 4 for 27. In reply, DC lost skipper David Warner on the 2nd delivery of the innings. However, Mitchell Mars and Phil Salt stitched a brilliant 112-run partnership in just 66 balls to put the hosts in the driver’s seat. However, a mini-collapse at the death restricted the Capitals to 188 for 6 in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh was the highest scorer for DC with 63 runs, while Phil Salt contributed 59 runs. SRH’s Mayank Markande was the pick of the bowlers for SRH with figures of 2/20.
