Earlier, MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first on a sluggish wicket. Deepal Chahar, who returned to the side after a long injury layoff, went for plenty in his four overs. Moeen Ali provided the first breakthrough to Men in Yellow with the wicket of Kyle Mayers, dismissing him for just 14.
Spinner Maheesh Theekshana picked two wickets in 2 balls before Ravindra Jadeja sent back Marcus Stoinis as LSG lose five wickets on 44 runs.

However, young Ayush Badoni came to LSG’s rescue as he along with Nicholas Pooran stitched a 57-run stand for the sixth wicket to steady the ship. After Pooran’s departure, Badoni continued the attack to take LSG to 125 for 7 before rain stopped play.
