IPL 2023: Dhanashree Verma, the better half of Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, uploaded a groovy video of the pair rocking to the tune of ‘O Humdum Suniyo Re’ from Bollywood film Saathiya on her Instagram account. The video also has some of their moments together, including Chahal’s moments with Rajasthan Royals this season. Dhanashree captioned the post, “Creating history with your magic, @yuzi_chahal23. You’ve proved yourself several times with the best intent ignoring certain events. That’s a sign of a true athlete. Thankful to people around you who always give the love and support back at you. Earlier, Chahal eclipsed Dwayne Bravo to become the IPL’s highest wicket-taker. In his first over in Kolkata on Thursday, the leg spinner had Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana slicing a sweep to deep backward square-leg for his 184th wicket of the tournament.
Chahal took 4 for 25 in four overs against KKR, bringing his career total to 187 wickets. With four-wicket hauls in his past two innings, he has surged up the wickets rankings to earn the Purple Cap this season with 21 wickets, two ahead of Mohammed Shami.
This season, Chahal formed a solid partnership with Ravi Ashwin, and subsequently with fellow legs pinner Adam Zampa. He has more wickets than Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra, R Ashwin, Sunil Narine, Harbhajan Singh, and Ravindra Jadeja despite having played less IPL matches.
Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, have had a fine IPL 2023 season thus far and are still very much in contention for the playoffs. They will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore to firmly establish their place in the top four of the IPL 2023 Points Table.
