IPL 2023: Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed against Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandy & other actors accusing them of promoting gambling. A social activist in Bihar is agitated with these celebrities because he is worried about the future of the youth who follow these stars. During IPL 2023 ad breaks, a lot of betting advertisement is seen on TV which involves these celebrities. In the petition moved in Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court, Tammanah Hashmi claimed that a lot of youth are into online gambling, and these stars are to be blamed for that. “They are misleading the youths of the country and forcing them to get involved in gambling. They are luring them with attractive prizes, but it can also make a youth addicted to gambling,” Hashmi said.

IPL 2023: Hashmi says youngsters will become addicted to gambling by playing online games

Fantasy Apps like Dream11, Mycricrle11, and Crickpe urge the youth to build their playing XI and win prizes for the same. While the youth get excited about winning rewards, Hashmi is worried that will be addicted to gambling and lose focus on their studies.

“The cricket and film icons are promoting various gaming shows and encouraging people to make teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Some of them have won the prizes, but it also has consequences of people becoming addicted to gambling as well,” he said.

The next hearing of this PIL case will be on April 22. Speaking about the IPL 2023 season, lSG are leading the points table with three wins from four games. Royals are placed second with two wins, followed by KKR and GT in third and fourth place respectively. DC are the only time to win a game in their four matches played in IPL 2023 season.
