IPL 2023: Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra made a bold prediction on Delhi Capitals’ campaign ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League 2023 season. In absence of injured captain Rishabh Pant, Delhi will be spearheaded by Australian opener David Warner. Delhi Capitals are among the four teams in the competition who have not lifted the IPL title so far despite coming close to it. Their best finish in the league came in 2020 when they ended as runners-up. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

IPL 2023: ‘They won’t Come Close to Playoffs’ Aakash Chopra makes brutal prediction for franchise ahead of Indian Premier League: Check Out
Chopra feels that Delhi’s wait for the IPL trophy will not be fulfilled in this season as players don’t have clarity about their roles in the side. Delhi failed to qualify for the playoffs in the 10-team competition last year and finished at the fifth spot with seven wins and as many losses. DC invested heavily in players in the last year’s auction and this time it will be a changed combination.
“Then you will have to have Manish Pandey at No. 4. Remember that there is no keeper thus far. Then Rilee Rossouw or Rovman Powell at No. 5. At No. 6, Sarfaraz Khan or any other keeper. We don’t even know who is going to keep. I am thinking Sarfaraz Khan but I don’t know”, he added.

On bowling options, the former cricketer said, “Then Axar Patel at No. 7. After that, Kuldeep Yadav and three pacers among your four bowlers. That’s what I am thinking because Mitchell Marsh is not bowling. In the three pacers, you can have Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, and either Mukesh Kumar or Ishant Sharma.”
“Only three teams (from the original franchises) have not lifted the trophy so far – Punjab, Delhi and RCB. Delhi have also come close, all teams come close sometime or the other, but I don’t think they will come close this time”, he added.
