IPL 2023: Former Indian and CSK player Suresh Raina posted an image on his Twitter account alongside his former CSK compatriots after win against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) last night. In the picture, Raina can be seen with India’s premium all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, CSK captain MS Dhoni, player turned commentator Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu. Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni had a happy homecoming at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai after a 4-year-long wait. How the match panned out
Ruturaj Gaikwad carried from where he left off in Ahmedabad. Gaikwad made batting look so easy as he effortlessly lofted three sixes in Krishnappa Gowtham’s opening over (5th of the innings). He continued to pile on the runs and a flick for a six off Wood underlined the supreme form he is in. He smashed a 31-ball 57 (3x4s, 4x6s) alongside Devon Conway who made a 29-ball 47 (5x4s, 2x6s) as they both added 110-runs for the opening stand. Ambati Rayudu & Shivam Dube contributed down the order, while MS Dhoni played a blazing cameo by hitting 2 sixes in 3 balls to post 217/7.
Chasing a target of 218, LSG started brilliantly. It was Kyle Mayers who kept hammering Deepak Chahar’s poor line to take LSG to 79 in 5.2 overs. But it was Moeen Ali who finally managed a breakthrough with Mayers’ wicket. Despite a blazing start by Kyle Mayers, LSG suffered a middle-order collapse and in the end, they fell 13-run short of the target as they posted 205/7 on the scoreboard.
The MS Dhoni show in IPL 2023 continues
A packed Chepauk Stadium came to watch Thala perform. It looked like he would not get the opportunity to bat but he finally came on with just five balls to spare when Ravindra Jadeja was sent back to the pavilion by Mark Wood.
Dhoni wasted no time and did not disappoint the crowd. The crowd went berserk as Dhoni hit two big sixes before being dismissed going for a third off Mark Wood’s bowling for 12 off 3 balls. Dhoni also completed 5,000 runs in the IPL career during his brief yet exhilarating knock.
