“Everyone wants to play in it. There are a lot of good players there, and hopefully, I get some opportunities to express how I’m playing at the minute – and show the world I’m capable of scoring runs anywhere.”

During his time in IPL, Brook wishes to fulfil his several childhood dreams, such as meeting Brian Lara and facing Muthiah Muralidaran and Dale Steyn in the nets. The trio are the coaching staffs this season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

“Brian Lara is a legend of the game… I used to love watching him when I was younger,” he said.

Brook recently broke a 30-year-old record held by former Indian player Vinod Kambli for most runs in the first 9 Test innings. He has made 809 runs compared to Kambli’s 798 and currently only trails Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar in terms of having a best test average after 9 innings ( 80.9 in comparison to Gavaskar’s 129.66).

“I’m very lucky to have come into this Test side,” Brook said.

“The way we’re trying to play, the positive brand of cricket we’re trying to play to entertain the crowd – it suits my game more than any, really.”
