IPL 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star Harry Brook will take part in Major League Baseball (MLB) spring training. He along with Issy Wong have been named Major League Baseball Europe ‘ambassadors’ ahead of June’s games in London. Although Harry Brook has had an incredible start to his Test cricket career, this weekend he will switch from Bazball to baseball to try his hand at a different style of striking. IPL 2023: SRH star Harry Brook joins Baseball team St Louis Cardinals in SHOCKING move, England cricketer to take part in MLB spring training
The MLB team St. Louis Cardinals are bringing in Brook, who has four centuries in his first six Test matches, for spring training in Florida.
On June 24 and 25, London Stadium will host a two-game series between the Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.
“I’m really excited for this partnership and can’t wait to try my hand at hitting some home runs,” Brook said in an MLB press release.
“I’m intrigued to see how different it is to cricket and what similarities there are too – will a home run feel as good as hitting a six?” he said.
“I’m also excited to learn from how other professional sportspeople go about their game and see if there are any transferable skills between batting in baseball and cricket. It’s going to be amazing to see baseball first hand in the US and help spread the word back in the UK and hopefully help build baseball’s fan base here,” Brook added.

Wong, a 20-year-old England Test player who recently signed with Mumbai Indians in India’s Women’s Premier League, posed in a Cubs jersey as part of the MLB’s promotion for the match.
“It’s going to be amazing to see baseball first hand in the US and help spread the word back in the UK and hopefully help build baseball’s fan base here,” she said.
Harry Brook and Baseball
Brook had already been exposed to the fusion of cricket and baseball.
After a dismal County Championship in which he averaged 25 for Yorkshire, Brook spent the 2018–19 season as a young English professional in the crucible of Sydney grade cricket, playing for the University of New South Wales.
In all formats, Brook scored over 1000 runs that summer, averaging 50.5. And while he was in Sydney, he worked with batting coach Darius Visser who also works with baseball players to adapt power-hitting strategies from baseball to cricket.
