Butter also opened up about his childhood heroes growing up, and without any surprise he named Jonty Rhodes, Adam Gilchrist, and Steve Waugh as heroes growing up. The England wicketkeeper also added fatherhood has brought a lot of changes in him as a person and as a cricketer. The right-hand batter said since becoming a father he has been able to block the outside noise and criticism easily as his focus remains on his daughters. But before that, Buttler said he just used to accept criticism and moved on, but now he does not read comments of people on social media, as he does not get time.
“Acceptance is a big part. Accepting that broadcaster pays someone to give their opinion. They’re just doing their job. It’s not a personal attack on me when they criticise me. And I watch other sports. I watch football and go, ‘oh how did he miss that?! ‘So easy. That’s exactly what people are doing when I drop a catch or go for a low score. I do exactly same thing without realising it while watching other sports. Just acceptance.”
