IPL 2023 Pay CutsKane Williamson (From INR 14 crore to INR 2 crore)
NewZealand skipper Kane Williamson was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2022. The senior batter also led the Orange Army in the previous edition, raking in a salary of Rs 14 crore. However, the Kiwi batter was released from the SRH squad before the auction. He was only bought for his base price of INR 2 crore by Gujarat Titans this time around. Williamson thus had to undergo a pay cut of INR 12 crore. GT’s head coach Ashish Nehra was also left surprised with no other franchise bidding for the veteran batter.
Romario Shepherd (From INR 7.75 crore to INR 50 lakhs)
West Indies all-rounder was roped in by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last auction. The Orange Army bagged his services after paying a total sum of INR 7.75 crore. The all-rounder played only three games in IPL 2022. Romario Shepherd scored 56 runs at a strike rate of 141.46 and picked up three wickets in the limited opportunities that came his way. In the recently concluded auction, Shepherd was bought for his base price of 50 lakhs by Lucknow Super Giants. His salary has been reduced by more than INR 7 crore.
Kyle Jamieson (From INR 15 crore to INR 1 crore)
New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson grabbed the limelight’s after he was bagged by RCB for INR 15 crore in IPL 2021. However, the tall lanky pacer could not much with the ball. Jamieson missed the last IPL edition owing to an injury. Coming in IPL 2023 Auction, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for his base price of INR 1 crore. Jamieson thus had to undergo a pay cut of Rs 14 crore.
