Apart from holding a firm grip on the Orange cap, Faf etched his name in RCB’s record books as he completed 1000 runs for the Bangalore side. The 38-year-old batter reached the milestone after completing his 21st run in the ongoing match against Mumbai Indians. Notably, Du Plessis has become just the sixth player to score 1000-plus runs for RCB.
Faf joined the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Jacques Kallis, and Glenn Maxwell in the elite list.
The veteran cricketer has had a fantastic season so far, scoring over 556 runs with an average of over 60. He is the leading scorer in IPL 2023 and has smashed six fifties, with the best score of 84.
Notably, the RCB skipper was the team’s top scorer in IPL 2022, with 468 runs at an average of 31.20. This year, he has been instrumental in leading RCB to the top half of the IPL points table, with the team winning five out of 10 matches so far.
RCB’s success this season has been built on the strong performances of its top order, including Faf, Kohli, and Maxwell. The trio has been brilliant in tandem, with Kohli and Maxwell also scoring heavily in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore has managed to post 199/6 in 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell scored 68 off 33, while Faf du Plessis hit 65 off 41. Dinesh Karthik played a cameo at the end, scoring 30 off 18 balls. For MI, Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 36.
