IPL 2023: MI vs RCB: The high-octane match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday produced some tense moments on the field. During the chase, MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided the hosts with a solid start. However, RCB’s Wanindu Hasaranga turned the tables in favor of his team by dismissing both the openers in the same over. Hasaranga first picked the wicket of Kishan (42 off 21) after a brilliant catch by wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat. The next dismissal was of Rohit Sharma, who was initially given not-out by the umpire when Hasaranga trapped him LBW, but the TV umpire overruled the decision after confirming that the ball was hitting the stumps.
However, from the naked eye, it seemed impossible for the ball to clip the stumps. Also, Rohit’s distance from the stumps while playing the delivery was over 3 meters away, which according to laws backs the batter.
Rohit Sharma was shocked by the umpire’s decision and expressed his frustration in the dugout.
Despite Rohit and Kishan’s dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav (83 off 34) and Nehal Wadhera (52* off 34) powered the hosts to win MI against the Faf du Plessis-led RCB.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. However, the decision did not go as planned as RCB batters Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell put up a spectacular show with a partnership of 120 runs. Du Plessis’ 65 off 4 balls and Maxwell’s 68 off 33 balls were the highlights of the innings as RCB posted a challenging target of 199 runs in 20 overs.
