The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired Pooran in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Kochi on Friday for Rs 16 crore. LSG and Delhi Capitals engaged in a heated bidding war over the wicket-keeper batter. When all was said and done, Lucknow picked up Pooran.
Pooran entered the bid with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Soon, the bid for Nicholas Pooran exceeded 4 crore. Heated battle was going on for him between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. The bid exceeded Rs 6 crore. As RR and DC were so adamant about picking Pooran, the price exceeded $8 crore. Lucknow secured Pooran’s services for the upcoming IPL with an offer of Rs 16 crore.

Pooran played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the season prior, but after a poor performance in IPL 2022, the team released him. Pooran also had little impact on the T20 World Cup as West Indies were ousted in the first round while he served as captain. The two-time World Champions suffered humiliating losses to Scotland and Ireland.
While playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 2022, where he also ended as the top run-scorer, Pooran amassed an astounding 345 runs from 10 matches, indicating that he may be on the mend. He had an astounding strike-rate of 234.
