List of Hat-tricks in IPL history
The first player to achieve the hat-trick feat in the tournament’s history was Lakshmipathy Balaji. The Tamil Nadu pacer achieved the feat with 4 time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural edition . Balaji’s hat trick came against the Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. Next on the list is veteran leg spinner Amit Mishra who picked up his first hat tricks while playing for Deccan Chargers against Kings XI Punjab in 2008.
Mishra bagged wickets of Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Yuvraj Singh to achieve the feat. The leg spinner has the record for most number of hat-tricks (3) in the history of IPL. Former South Africa cricketer Makhaya Ntini is the first overseas player to ever take a hattrick in the Indian Premier League. The pacer achieved the feat while playing for Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders. The right arm had picked up the wickets of Sourav Ganguly, Debabrata Das and David Hussey .
