The 39-year-old is the highest wicket-taker in the women’s game scalping 352 across three formats. Since making her debut in 2002, she has spearheaded India’s attack with aplomb and has been the team’s match-winner for 20 long years. Be it in any format ODI, Test, or T20Is, the 39-year-old has delivered for the team always in all conditions and all circumstances. Goswami quit T20Is in 2018 but continued to play the Test and ODI format.
The veteran also played in the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2022 and said she still has a burning desire to represent India. It seems the selectors are now ready to look beyond her and have told her she may no longer be in the future scheme of things. To honor her relentless services for India, BCCI felt a farewell game should be given to her. The legendary fast bowler will now play her last game on September 24 in Lord’s Stadium.
