IPL 2023: So which players can turn up the heat at the mini-auction?
Sam Curran
Premier England all-rounder Sam Curran could well turn out to be a million-dollar buy if chooses to enter the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Curran has risen with his death overs bowling ability for England while he has a knack of contributing vital runs with cameo knocks which makes him a handful.
His big money buy is almost inevitable as he is the leading wicket-taker for England in the T20 World Cup 2022. His all-round performance at the T20 Blast 2022 for Surrey was also commendable as he picked up 10 wickets from six matches besides contributing 186 runs.
Rassie van der Dussen
South African T20 specialist Rassie van der Dussen is likely to be released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. However, the naturally attacking batter will attract buyers at the auction. Van der Dussen could only get three matches for Rajasthan Royals in the previous edition and was far from impressive.
But he can turn out to be a reliable batter at the top-order with his ability to play quick-fire cameos. He is, moreover, equally good against spin and pace. The 6 feet 2 inches tall batter has an experience of 150 T20 matches under his belt where he has a good average of over 37 with a strike rate of 129.38.

Daryl Mitchell
Mitchell, a part of the New Zealand squad which reached the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals, could well be released by Rajasthan Royals. He could feature in only games in the previous edition of the lucrative tournament.
However, Mitchell might attract buyers at the auction with his ability to strike the ball cleanly. His unbeaten knock of an unbeaten 53 off 35 deliveries in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals vs Pakistan displayed his resilience under pressure. Besides that, his strike rate of around 140 and ability to pick wickets with his seam bowl makes him a utility T20 player.
Dasun Shanaka
Sri Lanka captain and explosive middle-order batter Dasun Shanaka might not have had the best T20 World Cup but he could prove to be an X-factor for any franchise.
With a strike rate of over 140 in the shortest format, Shanaka could fit into a squad in the role of a finisher. Beside that, the steady medium-pacer can pick up surprise wickets for the franchise which makes him a perfect X-factor element.
Cameron Green
All eyes will be on Cameroon Green if he decides to place his name in the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Green, 23, was a part of Australia’s squad in the T20 World Cup 2022, but could only get a game in their dismal run. However, the fledgling all-rounder, could turn out to be a long-time investment for any franchise. His first-class cricket exploits have proved him to be a handful as he averages 49.45 with the bat with 56 scalps from 44 matches to his name.
