Now that only Royal Challengers and Mumbai can reach 16, leaving Gujarat Titans alone who have already qualified, 15 points feels a bit more secure for the Super Giants and Super Kings. If Royal Challengers slip up against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, those two teams will definitely qualify with 15 points. If that outcome occurs, Mumbai will also need a victory by any margin in order to advance, since they will be the only other team capable of reaching the round of 16.

While Mumbai will need to lose their final match for Royal Challengers to still have a chance, even if they lose against Sunrisers. Rajasthan Royals and Knight Riders, the other two teams that can reach 14, must win their last games, cross their fingers that Mumbai loses, and then triumph in the NRR match against any team that reaches 14. In comparison to Knight Riders (-0.256), Royals (0.140) and Royal Challengers (0.166) are now significantly better positioned.
