“I think every overseas player, everytime we came here, it was just like, wow! and then to play in front of it and have it as your home base is just something after playing many years of international cricket was a real thrill.” said Fleming.

Stephen Fleming, currently serves as the head coach of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He was the former captain and present coach of the New Zealand national team. He is considered as one of the best batsmen in the history of the New Zealand cricket team.

Fleming ended his career in international cricket on March 26, 2008. After being signed by the Chennai Super Kings for US$350,000, Fleming participated in the 2008 Indian Premier League as a player before taking over as the team’s coach in 2009. He was hired in February 2015 to lead the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
After CSK was prohibited from competing in the Indian Premier League for two seasons, Fleming served as the Rising Pune Supergiant’s coach. He resumed his duties as head coach of the Chennai Super Kings on January 19, 2018, for the 2018 season. In 2022 for the SA20 league, he gets hired as the Joburg Super Kings’ head coach. He is currently one of the IPL’s top coaches.
