IPL 2023 auction: How much money should SRH spend to buy back Kane Williamson?
After releasing Kane Williamson ahead of the IPL 2023 auction, SRH has a big purse of Rs 42.25 crore to spend in the auction. The priority of the franchise will be to look for a new skipper. While SRH may not look to bring back released players they could make an exception with Williamson.

Kane Williamson’s form has taken a dip following the elbow injury. Last season he could only score 216 runs from 13 matches. During the IPL 2023 auction, Williamson registered himself in the 2 crore bracket. It is most unlikely that Williamson will get any other suitors due to his form and elbow injury struggles. In that scenario, SRH will have the opportunity to sign him for much lesser price (max 7-8 crores) rather than retaining him for 14 crores.
Franchises to have mock auction ahead of IPL 2023 main auction
The upcoming IPL 2023 auction will take place in Kochi with BCCI booking two floors of the Grand Hyatt in Bolgatty island. The mini-auction will taking place on December 23. Ahead of the auction the franchises will meet with IPL governing council members on December 21 to get clarity on availability of players’.
Another set of meetings will be on December 22 with broadcasters to have a mock auction. The auction will be take place for 87 available places with 30 of them left for foreign cricketers . Franchises are left with players purse of Rs 206.5 crores after spending 743.5 crores in total during the retention.
