To start the procedure for the upcoming mini-auction, the IPL has asked ten franchises to submit their list of retained players by November 15 at the latest, as per ESPNcricinfo.

There is no such cap for the mini-auction leading up to IPL 2023, in contrast to the major auction last year, when two new franchises were added and the old sides could keep a maximum of four players. Each team will also have an additional INR 5 crore ($607,000) to spend on top of the money from the previous auction, bringing the total auction pot to INR 95 crore ($11.5 million).

After last year’s auction, Punjab Kings has the largest remaining purse, INR 3.45 crore (about US $425,000), while Lucknow Super Giants had used up all of their funds.

Royal Challengers Bangalore was next with INR 1.55 crore, followed by Rajasthan Royals with INR 0.95 crore, and Kolkata Knight Riders with INR 0.45 crore.

Chennai Super Kings had INR 2.95 crore remaining. Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, had INR 0.15 crore left, while Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals each had INR 0.10 crore.

“It will be a short auction as we had the big one last season. The last auction was the major one and the next three will be mini auctions as the teams want to develop the squads,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport earlier.

IPL 2023 Date: As expected, the IPL is expected to start in the last week of March around the 22nd or 23rd. However, a final decision is expected during auctions when the IPL governing council meets.

IPL 2023 Format: Home & Away to Return: As reported by InsideSport earlier, the home and away format will return. It has already been confirmed by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in his letter to the state associations.
