IPL 2023 Auction: As many as 991 players have listed themselves for the 87 spots available in 10 teams for IPL 2023. Out of those, 21 have registered at the highest base price of INR 2 crore and, interestingly, all of them are overseas players. The likes of Kane Williamson, Ben Stokes, and Sam Curran who have performed well in IPL are expected to fetch the amount. However, the same cannot be said about some players who have the same base price. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

1. Angelo Mathews
Angelo Mathews last registered for the IPL in 2019, at the highest price of ₹2 crore again, when he was 32 years old, out of the national team, and with a poor T20 record. For some reasons, the SriLankan veteran has decided to place himself under the INR 2 crore. However, it is very unlikely that any franchise might want to make the first bid of INR 2 crore for Mathews. The all-rounder has earlier represented Delhi Daredevils (Now Delhi Capitals), Pune Warriors India, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
2. Nathan Coulter-Nile
IPL 2023 AuctionJust like Mathews, Nathan Coulter-Nile is past his best years. The 35-year-old pacer, who can bat a little, has featured in all IPL seasons since 2020. Couter-Nile enjoyed his successful stint with KKR, but he has not been consistent with his performance. Hence, no franchise might want to spend INR 2 crore for the senior Australian pacer.
3. Travis Head
IPL 2023 AuctionTravis Head was brought to Australia’s ODI outfit and he performed well. However, the same cannot be said about his numbers in the 20-over format. He averages under 27 in T20Is with a strike rate of 133.20. For a batter who has played mostly in the top order, having no T20I half-centuries is a red flag. Head might not find buyers in IPL auction, considering he has put his name under the highest base price.

4. Jamie Overton
Without any T20I or IPL experience, England’s pacer Jamie Overton has put himself in the INR 2 crore bracket for IPL 2023 Auction. Apart from his bowling abilities, Overton can be quite handy with the bat. However, franchises might tinker a bit before investing their INR 2 crore on the Englishman.
5.Tymal Mills
IPL 2023 AuctionTymal Mills was roped by the five-time champions Mumbai Indians as a replacement for injured Jofra Archer. However, the left-arm pacer could not perform at his best and was released from the Paltan family. With so many local left-arm pacers available in the auction, it is highly likely that franchises will be interested to invest on the English pacer.
