Another young all-rounder Cameron Green has also become IPL’s second costliest player with INR 17.50 price tag to Mumbai Indians. 1. Sam Curran (Punjab Kings)

It’s a happy homecoming for Sam Curran as he has become the most expensive buy in the history of the coveted league, bagging a Rs 18.5 crore deal with Punjab Kings, the team for which he played his debut season back in 2019. To note, the English all-rounder relished a terrific campaign in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022 as he was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

2. Cameron Green (Mumbai Indians)

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green went for a record Rs 17.50 crore at the IPL Auction 2023. Mumbai Indians broke the bank for the young Australian, and he became the most expensive Australian buy in IPL history. In fact, Green was the second highest buy after Sam Curran who went for a whopping 18.50 crore to Punjab Kings. MI was involved in a bidding war with DC but eventually managed to purchase Green in the end.

3. Ben Stokes (Chennai Super Kings)

Ben Stokes will be playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023. The England all-rounder was sold to CSK at a whopping price of ₹ 16.25 crore in the IPL 2023 auction, surpassing his previous best price of ₹ 14.50 crore paid by the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. The England Test captain has 920 IPL runs at an average of 25.56 and a strike rate of 134.5.

4. Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants)

Nicholas Pooran’s services were acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 16 crore which makes him the fourth costliest pick by a franchise this auction. The wicketkeeper-batter was released by SRH after being picked up in the mega auction for INR 10.75 crore last edition. The left-handed batter might be the X-factor LSG were looking for before the IPL 2023.

5. Harry Brook (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

England youngster Harry Brook started a huge bidding war at the IPL 2023 Auction and took home an enormous paycheque of Rs 13.25 crore. It was no surprise that Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchise with the highest purse, broke their bank to sign the 23-year-old. To note, Brook had kept his base price at Rs 1.5 crore and nobody expected him to fetch such a lucrative contract. The English batter will want give his best for the Orange Army in the upcoming edition.

6. Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal was bagged by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023 IPL auction. CSK and SRH participated in a bidding war before SRH came out trumps, bagging Mayank for INR 8.25 crore. His base price was Rs 1 crore. Mayank Agarwal was Punjab Kings’ captain in the previous season but was released by the franchise last month, following another poor season.
