During England’s recent tour of Pakistan, Stokes did not bowl during the Multan Test, while Australia will be looking to preserve Cameron Green’s fitness due to the Ashes series in the English Summer. While the BCCI has confirmed that England and Austalia players will be available, their cricket boards could still pose restrictions.

Australia and England will face off in the Ashes soon after the IPL final, while the former could also play in the World test Championship final. After weeks of debate, the BCCI finally confirmed that all players from Australia and England will be available for the entirety of the IPL.
This means, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green and Sam Curran will feature in the IPL final should their team reach their. However, it is believed that both CA and ECB will issue bowling bans on their star all-rounders. Stokes is battling a dodgy knee while there remains a great injury risk for Green and Curran.
While the BCCI usually informs about duration of players for the tournament well in advance this time around they have have left it to respective boards to take a call over availability of both the players for the IPL 2023 playoffs. A senior BCCI official while speaking to the website said, “Yes, both are available. The franchises have been informed. Whether they will play the entire tournament, is a call that their respective boards will take closer to the tournament. We hope they are available if picked at the auction,” .

- Unlike last time, IPL Auction in Kochi is a mini-auction and will last only a day.
- For the first time, IPL will have two separate broadcasters.
- Star Sports Network will have IPL 2023 Auction LIVE Broadcast.
- JioCinema will have IPL 2023 Auction LIVE Streaming.
- IPL Auction will start at 2:30 PM IST in Kochi’s Grand Hyatt hotel.
- For the first time, BCCI has allowed video-conferencing with support staff.
- The purse value of all teams will increase by Rs 5 crores, making a total of INR 95 crores for each team.
- Out of their total purse value, the franchises need to spend a minimum of 75% during the auction event.
- From a list of 991 players, a total of 369 players from 10 teams were shortlisted.
- However, BCCI has added 36 additional players to the final list on request of the teams, making a total of 405 players shortlist.
- Out of 405 players, 273 are Indian cricketers, and 132 are overseas, including four from associate nations.
- The total capped players are 119, uncapped players are 282 and 4 from associate nations.
- A maximum of 87 slots are now available, with up to 30 being allocated for overseas players.
