DC vs MI Highlights: Mumbai Indians WIN by 6 wickets, Rohit Sharma & co REGISTER Maiden WIN of IPL 2023 – Check Highlights
Standing tall throughout the game, Rohit Sharma led from the front almost till the end of the chase. He hit 65 runs while regaining form just in time to assist the five-time champions chase down 173. As MI required two runs, they finally reached the mark off the final ball, turning it into a thriller. However, thanks to Rohit, they were always in charge of the chase.
Most significantly, this was Rohit’s 26th half-century in a winning cause, making it his 41st IPL fifty. In this regard, he outperformed AB de Villiers, who amassed 25 fifties in winning causes throughout the course of his legendary IPL career. It’s interesting to note that David Warner’s valiant 51-run innings, which gave him the lead at the top of the list, were in vain.
Rohit Sharma lead MI to win
Coming to the match, Rohit Sharma led the team while scoring with 65 from 45 balls as MI successfully reached the 173 run target on the final ball. Ishan Kishan contributed 31, while Tilak Varma contributed 41.
Earlier, David Warner and Axar Patel both struck half-centuries, but Mumbai Indians’ three-wicket hauls from Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff helped Delhi Capitals be bowled out for 172 in 19.4 overs. In contrast to Axar’s lightning-fast 54 off 24 balls, Warner scored 51 off 47 balls. Hrithik Shokeen and Riley Meredith both claimed two wickets each for MI.
