IPL 2023: AB de Villiers RCB Return – Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has returned to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fold. De Villiers made his last RCB appearance in 2021. He was reminiscent of his memories with RCB as he visited the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium after making a stunning return to the franchise on Thursday. Follow RCB and IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

In a video which went viral on Twitter, the South African can be seen taking a stroll to the boundary ropes at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Although the new role for de Villiers has not been officially clarified yet, it is understood that he will help the management build their squad ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

De Villiers, on his return, mentioned that he will discuss the squad with the management and meet the boys ahead of IPL 2023.

How did AB de Villiers contribute for RCB in his playing career? – The 360 degrees player was a part of the Bangalore franchise from 2011 to 2021. In this period of time, although RCB remained bereft of IPL trophy, he was involved in plenty of match-winning partnerships with premier batters like Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle.

The South African registered his best season for RCB in 2016. He had registered 687 runs in that season with the highest score of an unbeaten 129 at an average over 52. His terrific season was laced with one century and three half-centuries which was pivotal in the franchise reaching the final.

De Villiers will bring in an experience of 184 matches in the lucrative tournament where he amassed 5162 at an average of nearly 40 with a strike rate of 151.69. His experience will come in handy for the players and the management which includes a brilliant cricket tactician in form of Mike Hesson as their director of cricket.
