IPL 2022: Will SRH, PBKS have to regret not retaining David Warner, Shahrukh Khan? Recent results show, YES they will!!!

David Warner – a regret for SRH:

Australia’s destructive opener and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting mainstay David Warner was sacked from the leadership role in the IPL 2021 mid-season by the Orange Army and was even dropped from the playing 11 in the second leg of the edition in UAE. While the main reason for the fallout between the Orange Army and Warner is still not clear, the latter’s dismal run in the tournament was said to be one of the causes.

However, as they say, ‘form is temporary & class is permanent, Warner turned out to be the game-changer for Australia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and was also adjudged Player of the Tournament.

  • Just after the IPL 2021, Warner amassed 289 runs in 7 innings, averaging 48.16
  • He slammed three fifties in 7 innings in the T20 WC 2021
  • Warner’s strike rate was also one of the best amongst his side, i.e., 146.70
  • And not only in the white ball, but Warner is also making a mark in red-ball cricket too
  • The Australian opener shrugged off his last Ashes campaign disappointment with gritty 94 in the ongoing Gabba Test
  • Though Warner failed to score a hundred, he slammed 11 fours and two sixes making the spectators cheer numerous time

Shahrukh Khan – a regret for PBKS:

The Tamil Nadu lower middle-order batter or ‘the finisher’ to be precise – Shahrukh Khan once again stole the headlines with his power-packed fifty against Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy yesterday. Coming to bat when his side was reeling at 179/5 the former Punjab Kings batter slammed a quickfire 66 off just 35 balls to take his side to a competitive total. And, eventually, Tamil Nadu won the game.

  • It’s not the first time Shahrukh Khan has played a savior’s innings for Tamil Nadu
  • He smashed a last-ball six when Tamil Nadu needed 5 off 1 ball in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 final and helped his side become the champions
  • Even one of the best finishers of the game, MS Dhoni was clicked watching Shahrukh Khan’s heroic

Shahrukh Khan was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 5.25 crore in the IPL 2021 auction. The Tamil Nadu star finisher has played 11 games for PBKS and has scored 153 runs at an average of 21.86. But looking at his recent heroics for Tamil Nadu in SMAT 2021 and the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, it seems Punjab Kings will be regretting not retaining him.
