IPL 2022: Wankhede crowd goes BERSERK, chants ‘Cheater Cheater’ after umpires deny waist-high ‘NO BALL’- Watch video
DC needed 36 runs from the final over and Rovman Powel smashed the first three balls for three consecutive sixes. However, despite the fact that the third ball appeared to be a full toss above waist height, the umpires declined to call it a no-ball, angering Rishabh Pant and the rest of the DC squad in the dugout.
While the game was halted while the Delhi players continued to protest, the Wankhede fans engaged in the on-field debate and gave their verdict on the topic. As the umpires refused to include the third umpire in the case, chants of “Cheater… Cheater…” began to reverberate around the stadium.

The on-field umpires’ decision remained the same, and play resumed without the waist-high no-ball being checked. The interruption in momentum didn’t help the Delhi Capitals much, as Powell failed to smash his fourth consecutive maximum, before being caught on the final delivery of the over.
Rajasthan Royals eventually won the match by 15 runs. While some believe the third umpire should have been called to determine if McCoy’s full toss was over the waist-line or not, others believe DC captain Rishabh Pant’s actions were excessive when he asked his men to leave the field in protest.
“I think they were bowling well throughout the game but in the end Powell gave us a chance, I thought that no-ball could have been precious for us but it is not in my control. Yes, disappointed but can’t do much about it. Everyone was frustrated (in the dugout) that it was not even close, everyone in the ground saw that, I think the third umpire should have interfered and said it was a no-ball,” said DC skipper Pant on the matter.
Rajasthan Royals climbed to the top of the IPL 2022 points table as a result of the win, while DC stayed in sixth place.
