In his message which was posted on his official Twitter account, the former skipper of the franchise thanked the fans for showing unwavering support to the team through out the season. He wrote, “Sometimes you win, and sometimes you don’t, but the 12th Man Army, you have been fantastic, always backing us throughout our campaign. You make cricket special. The learning never stops. A big thanks to the management, support staff and all the people who are part of this amazing franchise. See you next season.”
Despite not being able to win even a single IPL title so far, the support that this team gets from their die-hard fans is massive. Virat Kohl, who led the franchise for nearly 10 years, stepped down from captaincy ahead of this edition.
Former South African skipper Faf du Plessis was handed ovber the reigns of captaincy and the team managed to reach their third consecutive playoffs. They finished the league stage at the fourth spot on the points table with 8 victories from 14 matches.

Personally Virat Kohli endured a poor season with the bat this year. IPL’s highest run-scorer managed to score as he managed to score just 341 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.73. He scored just two fifties this season. In the Qualifier 2, he departed after scoring just 7 runs.
