Even though MS Dhoni would have liked to become that man, he had to play for the Pune franchise when CSK was suspended for two years. But Kohli too was tempted by other franchises. Speaking on Royal Challengers Bangalore’s podcast with Danish Sait, Virat Kohli said there were instances when he thought of switching to a different team. But he decided against it. Kohli despite being the league’s top-scorer hasn’t managed to win an IPL title.

“To be very honest, I have thought about it and have been approached by others to come into the auction somehow. But then I thought about it. There would have been many great individuals who have won trophies but no one addresses you like that. Nobody addresses you as IPL champion or World Cup champion,” Virat Kohli said.

“For me the loyalty with RCB is far greater than someone saying ‘finally you have won IPL trophy with XYZ’. You will feel great for five minutes and then you will be miserable with some other issue,” Virat Kohli added.
Virat Kohli has played 207 matches for RCB, scoring 6,283 runs at an average of 37.39. He has scored five centuries and 42 half-centuries. Kohli said that he feels at home at RCB and will continue to play for RCB.

“Not winning the IPL is not the end of the world for me. RCB have given me the opportunity in the first three years and believed in me. That is the most special for me,” he said.
“The reason I say that I will play for RCB till my last day is because I cannot see myself play in any other environment. The city has a very different feel. You feel that when you arrive at the airport and drive to the hotel. It just feels home,” Kohli added.
