IPL 2022: Sreesanth DESPERATE for IPL deal, says ‘want to play, keep me in your prayers during auction’
The 38-year old Sreesanth was regarded as one of the best right-arm fast bowlers in the country and he was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup-winning squads. In 2013, while he was playing in the IPL, representing Rajasthan Royals, he was arrested in Mumbai for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing alongside his teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
He was initially punished with a life ban but it was later reduced to a seven-year suspension. The ban ended on 13 September 2020 and he was allowed to play all forms of the game. He represented his state team Kerala in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, marking his return to the competitive cricketer.
He registered for the IPL auction last year but his name was not selected in the final list. This time he has been selected in the final list and it remains to be seen whether the 38-year old bags a contract on the auction day.
