Shreyas Iyer changing statements? It seems KKR captain was under some pressure to make a new statement.

The interviewer after the match did not even ask the question and Iyer jumped into to clarify the below.

“And also I want to clarify from the last interview when I took the CEO’s name, I meant he’s there to console the players who are sitting out, it’s never easy for them.”

What was the earlier comment? – Earlier on Monday Shreays had spoken on the role of CEO and made comments regarding his role, “It’s really difficult. I was also in that position once when I started playing IPL. We discuss with the coaches, CEO is also involved in team selection.

“Baz (head coach Brendon McCullum) goes to the players and tells them if they are not playing. All of them are very supportive of the decision-making.”

Big win for KKR- As things stand the 54-run win against SRH has kept KKR in the running for a place in the playoffs. Shreyas Iyer’s team can still reach the playoff and also have a positive NRR which gives them the edge. They next play Lucknow Super Giants and a win will give them a good chance of qualifying, but a defeat will see them get eliminated. Also they will have to hope for defeats for RR and RCB in their remaining matches.

Playoff Scenario for KKR –

  • Both or one of RR and RCB should lose their remaining matches and end with 14 points and KKR should have better net run rate than RR (KKR already are better in NRR than RCB)
  • DC should lose one or both matches and end with 14 points or less, if they end with 14 points KKR must win their LSG match by big margin to overtake DC in NRR
  • With PBKS and SRH going head-to-head one will get directly eliminated, but whoever wins should lose their other encounter or end with poor NRR than KKR
  • Interestingly KKR can still finish third if certain set of results go their way

Remaining games –
