The 36-year old Punjab Kings opener has been in a fine touch this season and continued his run-scoring spree on a match that is a must-win game for both the teams. He needed just two runs in the game to go past 6000 runs in IPL and he achieved the feat immediately in the second ball he faced in the innings.
He became the second player to score 6000 runs in the IPL history as joined Virat Kohli in the illustrious list. He however didn’t stop as he went on to achieve few more records during the course of the knock.

He also required 11 runs in the game to go past 9000 T20 runs and he reached the milestone in style with a six via a slogsweep. By doing so, he became the third Indian batter to achieve 9000 runs in T20 cricket after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Dhawan went on to score his 46th IPL fifty and with the knock also accumulated the highest tally of runs against a single opponent in IPL. He has now scored 1029 runs in IPL against CSK and became the first batsman to achieve the feat against the four-time champions. He also became the third batsman to score 1000 runs vs an IPL team in the history of the league.
