IPL 2022: RCB’s 10.75cr pacer Harshal Patel makes BIG REVELATION, recalls how multiple franchises ‘CHEATED HIM’ – Check out
While he found several takers and a huge price in 2022, it wasn’t the case, however, four years ago. RCB didn’t retain him but were able to buy him back at the auction for a whopping sum of INR 10.75 crore. Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad too bid for the 31-year old but the Bangalore side was able to get its hands on him again.
The RCB pacer revealed that he was promised by 3-4 franchises in 2018 that they were going to bid for him but apart from Delhi’s solitary bid, no one wanted him and in his own admission, it felt like a betrayal.
Speaking to Gaurav Kapur on Breakfast with Champions, Harshal said, “The ironic thing was that there were 3-4 people from different franchises who said we’d gonna bid for you but kisi ne nahi kiya [no one did]. At that time, it felt like a betrayal, yeh toh jhooth bole hain, dhokha hua hai mere saath [they lied to me, I felt cheated].”
Harshal had the role clarity under Virat Kohli last year as he was the designated death bowler for RCB, an area where the three-time finalists have struggled over the years.
Harshal was bought by the then Delhi Daredevils at IPL 2018 mega auction for his base price of INR 20 Lakh and even though he was with the franchise for 3 years, he played just 12 games before being traded eventually after 2020 season.
