IPL 2022: RCB New Captain for 15th edition
- South African captain Faf du Plessis is all set to take up the leadership role due to his vast amount of experience.
- He has captained South Africa in all three formats of the game and he will also be available for the entire season of IPL.
- Glenn Maxwell is the other option for captaincy. But considering he is set to miss the first two matches and will be unavailable due to his wedding on March 27.
- CA also have told the IPL contracted players to participate from April 6.
- The third option was Dinesh Karthik, who comes with strong leadership qualities as he led KKR for three seasons.
- He took the team to playoffs in 2018, but failure to do in 2019, 2021 resulted in him stepping down from the post.
In all probability, Du Plessis is likely to be Virat Kohli’s successor. RCB director Mike Hesson revealed they had planned well in advance to get the right-hand batter. RCB had to shove off a stiff challenge from CSK to get Du Plessis for 7 crores. The veteran has been one of the best players for CSK for the past six years.
