Hasaranga’s third wicket came in the second ball of his third over. This was a wrong ‘un which Jagadeesha Suchith tried to hit for a six after dancing down the track, but he made absolutely no connection with the ball and was subsequently stumped.
In his last over, Hasaranga completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Shashank Singh first, and then Umran Malik in the very next ball. It was also a maiden over, and with this fifer, the 24-year-old from Galle is now second in the purple race cap. He was picked up 21 wickets in 12 matches, while the current purple cap owner, Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up 22 wickets in 11 matches.
