IPL 2022: Amid criticism, Ravi Shastri backs the need for IPL, expresses interest in coaching as Ahmedabad IPL team links grow

Ravi Shastri on IPL: Shastri enjoyed a four-year tenure as the head coach of the Indian team, and will soon decide on his next innings in life. The former Indian all-rounder has been linked with the new Ahmedabad IPL team and reportedly has been offered a Director of Coaching spot.

When asked will he be intested in joining any of the IPL franchise for coaching role? This is what the former Indian coach stated –

“If I get the opportunity, I will definitely do it. There are no two ways about that. It will be a great experience. Something I have not tried and I relish challenges. I will go in that direction, for sure,” he said.

IPL 2022: Should that not work out, Ravi Shastri remains keen to return to broadcasting, where he made a name for himself over two decades after his retirement.  He said, “The sporting fraternity, since I left the game and went to broadcasting for 23 years, has opened up that massively, five fingers will not fit, you need ten.”

He added, “But I am good enough with five and it will be everything connected to cricket because whatever I am, it is because of the game and in many ways, the BCCI, because they are the custodians of the sport in India. But the media space is exploding and I think I fit in there.”
