“Gujarat Titans have signed Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Gurbaz has signed up as a replacement for the England batter Jason Roy, who had earlier pulled out of the tournament,” Gujarat Titans said in a statement.

A right-handed batter and a wicketkeeper, Gurbaz had represented Afghanistan in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. Since making his senior international debut in 2019, he has played nine One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 20 T20 Internationals so far.
In 2021, Gurbaz became the first Afghan batter to score a century on ODI debut – a feat he achieved against Ireland at Abu Dhabi. The 20-year-old joins his countrymen Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad in the Gujarat Titans team.

Rashid Khan (GT): Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s Gujarat Titans teammate Rashid Khan is the most expensive Afghan player of IPL 2022. GT paid Rs 15 Cr to pick him from players’ draft after he parted ways with Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 76 IPL matches, Rashid Khan has bagged 93 wickets at an economy rate of 6.33.

Noor Ahmad (GT): Afghanistan’s 17-year-old left-arm spinner is IPL 2022’s youngest player. Although he is yet to make his international debut, Gujrat Titans paid Rs 30 lakh to get him from the auction.
