Notably, Ashwin has been an all-round contributor for RR this season. He has picked up 11 wickets at an economy rate of 7.33 runs per over, and while that might not be very impressive in itself, what makes Ashwin a special player is his batting contributions. He has played a few important cameos, and in total, has scored 185 runs at an average of 30.83.

However, despite his multi-faceted skillset, Manjrekar feels Ashwin will be a problem for RR if the pitch is flat at Ahmedabad. Speaking with ESPNCricinfo, the pundit said “Ravichandran Ashwin is a problem for RR on flat tracks as he tries a lot of variations. He bowls fewer off-spinners on such occasions.”
However, he further explained that Ashwin can be dangerous if it is a spinning top, by saying “But when there is a turn, then he becomes a dangerous bowler. RR will benefit if the pitch is favourable for spinners as Chahal and Ashwin will bowl in tandem.”

Meanwhile, while Sanju Samson’s RR team looks pretty well-balanced across all aspects, it is their death bowling that has let them down this season, time and again. Trent Boult has been expensive in the death overs, while Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy have been a bit of a hit and miss.
On being asked about solutions for RR’s Achilles’ heel, Manjrekar explained “Death bowling has been a weakness for RR. Trent Boult is a world-class bowler but they have to use him with the new ball as his record isn’t that great in the death overs. They have backed Prasidh Krishna and he has done decently well this season. Obed McCoy has proved to be a surprise package and they will trust him to deliver”
