Jos Buttler has come up clutch once again for Rajasthan Royals as the Englishman blasted a 25-ball fifty in the Qualifier 2 against RCB. Chasing 158 to win, Buttler’s powerplay pyrotechnics left no chance to sniff back into the game, putting Rajasthan in pole position to make their first IPL final since 2008.

Buttler, who is also the Orange Cap leader, went past 750 runs for the season, becoming only the second ever in IPL history to achieve that landmark.  Virat Kohli has the most runs in a season with 973 in 2016, while David Warner smashed 848 in the same year for SRH. Buttler’s 750+ season in 2022 ranks third ahead of Kane Williamson’s 735-run effort back in 2018.

Buttler had gotten off to a fantastic start this season, slamming three centuries in the first seven games to amass over 500 runs in the season. The RR opener looked prime to outstage Virat Kohli’s record but form deserted Buttler in the middle phase of the tournament.

The English keeper however bounced back with a stunning 89 not out in the Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans but could not help his team to the win. He however followed it up a quick fire fifty in Qualifier 2, to all but seal the job for his side.
