Buttler joined the party quite late and targetted the over of Yash Dayal as he comfortably reached his half-century in 41 deliveries. Buttler had previously struggled in his last couple of innings where runs have constantly avoided him. In today’s game against Gujarat Titans, the same process was repeated.

A matured innings from Buttler saw him register his 4th half-century of the tournament. However, just before reaching his fifty, Buttler went on to target the pacers. He hit Yash Dayal for 18 runs in a single over and went on to hit bog against Mohammed Shami. Buttler got a lifeline when he was dropped in 69 by Rashid Khan.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for Buttler overall. Just after crossing his fifty, the stats read that Buttler has struggled against spin bowling. He managed to score just 13 runs in 17 deliveries while he pounded the pacers for 43 off 27 deliveries.

As the innings progressed towards its end, Buttler unleashed his fury. He went on to score 89 runs off just 56 deliveries before being run out on a no-ball. With a strike rate of 158, Buttler’s innings consisted of 12 fours and 2 huge sixes. The orange cap leader crossed 700 runs to attend an unassailable lead for the race for the orange cap.

Jos Buttler with 718 runs currently, stands sixth on the list of most runs scored in an IPL season.
