IPL 2022: Warner has been scintillating for DC at the top and so has been Umran Malik for SRH with his pace. The duo must continue their good run during the final few league matches. Apart from Warner and Malik, even players like Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Williamson are crucial players in their teams making it through to the playoffs.
Here at InsideSport, we take a look at 10 players who are important to teams for booking playoff berth
1. David Warner – DC
David Warner and Kuldeep Yadav are two vital players for DC, and they need to deliver big if DC wants to harbor hopes of qualifying. Warner has been a revelation at the top and has so far scored 356 runs in 8 games for DC. The southpaw was on fire against his former team SRH and scored a phenomenal 92. The opening batter has scored four fifties for DC this season and has been striking them at a colossal 156.82
Warner has also scored the most runs for DC this season, which implies the significance of DC doing well. He needs to keep this form going if DC want to make it through the playoffs. DC needs to win at least 3 games out of four and the southpaw has to deliver.
- Kuldeep Yadav – DC
Kuldeep Yadav has taken most wickets for DC with the ball in hand. He has 18 wickets and is the second on the list of highest wicket-takers in IPL 2022. Yadav has also won four player of the match awards for DC. He has reinvented himself nicely and has gone on to win games singlehandedly. If the chainaman does not take wickets, then DC have mostly ended up losing.
The rest of the bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, and Axar Patel have not taken so many as Kuldeep. So DC will rely on their lead spinner to win games ahead of the playoffs.

- Virat Kohli – RCB
Virat Kohli has started to fire in the last two games for RCB and they are looking completely dangerous at the top. The right-hand batter was promoted up order against RR and so far he has scored 9, 53, and 29. The former RCB batter has so far scored only 216 runs in 11 matches, but rule Kohli out at your own risk. If these three knocks are anything to go by, then Kohli is just getting started and might prove to be RCB’s game-changer in the remaining three games for RCB in the league stage.
- Josh Hazlewood – RCB
RCB’s best bowler so far Josh Hazlewood has been simply outstanding with the ball. He has the best economy of 7.20 among RCB bowlers and has taken 11 wickets in just 7 matches. His terrific performance in the power play and death has given RCB a match-winner in the bowing department. Without the contribution of Hazlewood, RCB might not make it through to the playoffs.

- Shreyas Iyer – KKR
KKR captain Shreyas Iyer is the leading run-scorer for his side with 324 runs from 10 games. KKR depends heavily on its skipper for stability at the top. Without Iyer’s crucial runs KKR might not end up making the playoffs. They are currently placed eight on the points table and need to win all their four matches to make it through the playoffs.
- Umesh Yadav – KKR
KKR’s leading wicket-taker Umesh Yadav has to deliver big time in the four games for his side. The veteran has taken 15 wickets in 10 games and has been the standout bowler for the side. He has got very little support from the other end as the next highest wicket-taker for the side is Tim Southee with 10 wickets. If Yadav fails in these games then KKR are all but gone.
- Liam Livingstone – PBKS
PBKS second-highest run-scorer Liam Livingstone has been a revelation for the side in the ongoing IPL. He has scored 293 runs at a colossal strike rate of 186.62. He has also struck 23 massive sixes and has singlehandedly won games for his side. PBKS are heavily dependent on the star player in the reaming league games. If he fails, then PBKS could also not make it to the playoffs. PBKS currently has 10 points and have four games left. They need to win all those and their star players’ contribution is vital.
- Mayank Agarwal – PBKS
PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal has looked of color in the ongoing IPL. The right-hand batter has only scored 161 runs in nine games. PBKS have missed his fiery starts at the top of the order. His lack of run-scoring has put pressure on Shikhar Dhawan to score. With playoffs at stake, Agarwal has to fire, or else this year also PBKS might lose on the playoff berth.

- Kane Williamson – SRH
SRH skipper Kane Williamson has been a huge disappointment for the side so far. The 32-year-old has only scored just 195 runs with only fifty to his name. The New Zealand skipper has not been in his elements and it has started to hurt SRH a bit. SRH’s playoffs fate is in their hands for now and it is now or never for Williamson to score massive runs and take their team through the playoffs.
- Umran Malik – SRH
SRH pacer Umran Malik has been the stories of IPL 2022. Malik has bowled with fire, determination, and intent. He has shattered the fastest ball of IPL in each game that he has played. The 23-year-old has picked 15 wickets and is the side’s second-highest leading wicket-taker. Malik is an out-out-out wicket-taker and SRH relies on his strikes in the power play and death overs. With T Natarajan being injured, Malik’s contribution could prove to be decisive in SRH making in playoffs.
