“Yes, he has arrived in Chennai today. He will be here for the auction discussions. He is likely to be present for the auction. But it is Mahi’s call and a call will be made close to the auction,” a source close to the development confirmed to InsideSport.IN.
CSK Auction Preparation LIVE: MS Dhoni is expected to play his last season in IPL 2022. However, with the IPL set to be conducted in centralised venues, it is likely that Chennai will miss out on hosting their captain. But there have been talks regarding a transition in captaincy with MS Dhoni handing over the mantle to Ravindra Jadeja.
“There have been no discussions regarding the matter. We will cross the bridge when the time comes. Dhoni is our captain. He is the first player of CSK and when he decides to step down, he will make that call. We are now focused on the auction,” the source told InsideSport.IN.

Ahead of the mega auction, MS Dhoni took a huge pay cut while elevating Ravindra Jadeja as the first pick of the team for Rs 16 Crore. CSK also retained Moeen Ali for Rs 8 Crore and Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 6 Crore. The defending champions will now be aiming to get their trusted associates like Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina back. But the franchises refused to comment on this.
